Banish the Bags Under Your Eyes
By Colette Bouchez
WebMD Feature
Do you wake up looking more tired than when you went to bed? Do people tell you it's time for a vacation the day you get back? If so, it's a safe bet you've got some under eye "baggage" -- puffy eyes, eye bags, dark circles, and shadows. It's also a safe bet they're making you look more tired and older than you really are. Read how to help banish those under eye bags.

Sculptra in the News
Sculptra, a long-lasting filler that has been used since 2004 to plump the cheeks of H.I.V.-positive patients with facial wasting, is finally having its cosmetic debut. In July, the Food and Drug Administration approved Sculptra Aesthetic — as the cosmetic version is named — for use to improve the appearance of nose-to-lip wrinkles (think Jack Nicholson’s Joker), horizontal chin wrinkles and so-called marionette lines that frame lips. Read about the pros and cons of this newly approved product.

The ASPS Takes Another Look at VASER Liposuction
A New Standard for Body Contouring?
Cosmetic Surgery Review 9/17/09
VASER liposuction uses ultrasound energy to permanently destroy fat cells, but since the fat is emulsified during this process, the procedure allows the surgeon to extract the body fat with ease. Learn more about Vaser Lipo for both fat removal and fat transfer.

How to Feel More Attractive
Psychology Today Magazine
Feeling beautiful comes from the inside. For example, shy people consistently rate themselves as less attractive than others do. Why? Because when you focus on yourself, you become more self-critical, but if you force yourself to approach others and make them feel wanted, your own insecurities diminish. Read these eight tips on how to help yourself feel more attractive.

Beyond First Blush: An Up-Close Look at Natural Skin Care Products
by Suzanne Wright

Pomegranates. Green tea. Mushrooms. They taste great, and scientific studies have shown that they may have powerful health benefits as foods. Now, many cosmetics companies are touting these same ingredients in their natural skin care products. But drinking green tea is one thing, putting it on your skin another. Do these botanically based often labeled "natural", "green," or "organic," live up to the hype? Read more about natural skin care products.

Beauty Tip of the Month

Georgia’s answer to the egg white application question---

“The egg white is slippery when you first apply it, but it dries quickly. Therefore, when you apply it (by dipping the fingers of one hand into a plastic container & smoothing it onto your face), move the fingers of both hands in an upward motion (as if you are applying moisturizer), paying particular attention to any lines that you want lifted---around your mouth, beside your nose, beside your eyes, and keep moving your fingers in an upward motion until the egg white dries. As the egg white dries these areas on your face will appear more smooth & your face will have more of a “porcelain” appearance. I do not have a “blotchy” appearance afterwards b/c I apply all of my creams & moisturizers before applying the egg white. Then I apply my makeup starting w/foundation or brushing on cover cream here & there, depending on how ‘made up’ I want to get.”

Personal Notes From Lois
Did you know that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month?
"During these past several weeks, the importance of early detection and treatment of breast cancer touched me in a very personal way. I can not stress enough the importance of having a routine mammography - at least annually - or more frequently, if recommended. I know it isn't a fun procedure, but believe me, the alternatives are far less fun. Be smart. Make that phone call and get started today."
